Ingredients for Apple Pie

Pillsbury Pie Crusts

Premade pie crusts make the world go round! This amazing convenience item makes baking homemade treats so simple and no one needs to know that you didn’t make it yourself. You will need both top and bottom crusts, so be sure to have a full set.

If you’re particularly handy you can make your own pie crust, just be sure to use it within the first 48 hours of mixing it.

Butter

Butter adds richness, fat, and deliciously creamy flavor to this great apple pie!

Apples

Apples are the perfect fruit! They are full of amazingly sweet and tart flavors, are easy to afford, and they have a great shelf life. Choose your favorite style of apple, granny smith is the classic apple pie choice but there are lots of great tart apples out there like a golden delicious or pink lady.

Cinnamon

This warm spice has the most irresistible flavor and aroma and when paired with apples it becomes the most inviting bite. Use ground cinnamon or fresh grind on your own.

Sugar

Use granulated white sugar to bring sweetness to this beautiful pie.

Expert Tips and Tricks

  • Center the bottom pie crust in the pan and then gently push it into the curves of the pan so the crust ends up centered in the pan with an even amount of slack on all sides.
  • Pace yourself with the butter because it has to last through every layer of apples.
  • Cutting the vents before you place the top crust is critical! If you try to cut them on the pie you won’t have as much control.
  • You can get decorative with the slits and cut them in a nice diamond or another pattern.
  • Optionally crimp the edges of the pie with your fingertips or a fork.

How to Serve This Apple Pie

Apple pie screams of early autumn, but this slice of deliciousness is great for practically any occasion. If you are more of a fruit lover than a chocolate fiend this pie can be a wonderfully fruity choice for special occasions.

A cold glass of milk is always nice with Apple Pie. Try serving traditionally by topping the pie with vanilla bean ice cream. Go a little out of the box with a warm slice of pie topped with cheddar cheese. It sounds crazy, but it works!

Any way you slice it, this pie is a delicious treat that will bring out warm feelings and nostalgia.

How to Store and Reheat Apple Pie

Allow the pie to cool completely before covering it or moving it to an airtight container. Store it in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.

To reheat the whole pie, preheat the oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper and bake the pie for 10 to 15 minutes.

To reheat a single slice, place the piece of pie on a microwave-safe plate and heat for 30 seconds to 1 minute.
